Sun Safes is one of the leading safes manufacturers in the world specializing in fire proof safes and filing cabinets, etc. Mr. Y. H.Kim, the founder and Chairman of the company, worked as a safes technician in United States of America for nearly 10 years since 1962. During the time, he obtained vast experience and knowledge about safes and he traveled all of the world, working as a technician. After returned to Korea, he established Sun Safes Manufacturing Company in 1973. The first thing he did was set up a Korean standardization on Safes Products and for this purpose, he submitted a collection of safe data to National Police Bureau and Office of Industrial Advancement to adopt as index of the fire proof safes. He even built a test furnace in the factory and conducted fire proof test at 980 degrees for 3 hours and 30 minutes to demonstrate the quality of his safes with the attendance of high ranking government offices concerned and major broadcasting companies such as KBS, MBC etc., and 7 biggest news paper companies. This way, he transferred his technology to Korean safes industry and made a contribution to change Korea from safes importing country to exporter. In 1992, after visiting Meilink Inc., 120 year old safe manufacturing company in U.S.A, he noticed the necessity of production management system based on engineering theory. Since then, he started to invest more on production facilities and plant automation. Details of the action are described as follows.
