Dongjin started as a motor controller manufacturer in 1987. Its products quickly gained popularity in the U.S. and Japan for their unique features such as electronically controlled, energy saving, motor protecting characteristics. In 1989, Dongjin started to market these controllers in the Pacific rim countries under the name Motormate. In May 1993, Dongjin established a subsidiary, the Dongjin Motormate Co., Ltd. to specialize in manufacturing motor controllers. 'Motormate II' was selected as an excellent product for its high technology, by the Ministry of Trade and Commerce of Korea and Motormate II was successfully developed as a part of government initiated project.
